Experience theatre...

Since 1994, Chanhassen Dinner Theatres has offered musical theatre camp for kids; an educational camp program that's also terrific summertime fun. Kids and teens, ages eight to eighteen, are given opportunities to explore a wide spectrum of musical theatre components including voice, movement, costumes, scenery, stage combat, improv and more. All sessions are taught by professional members of the Chanhassen design, choreography and acting teams! The Chan DT Musical Theatre Camp student experience truly stands out above other "theatre" camp programs.

Youth & Teen Camp Morning and afternoon sessions are offered to kids and teens. They are divided into groups and rotate through different locations within our theatre complex for each type of learning. All experience levels are welcomed. In addition to being a confidence builder, our camp teaches the various fundamentals of theatre in a professional theatre environment. Participants have fun learning about the wonderful world of theatre, and making new friends!
The themes for 2012 are: "Musicals of the 90s" (for youth age 8-12) Includes musicals: The Lion King, The Little Mermaid, The Secret Garden, Blood Brothers, Crazy For You, and Beauty and the Beast  "Musicals of the New Century" (for teens age 13-18) Includes musicals: Wicked, Avenue Q, Hairspray, Thoroughly Modern Millie, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Spamalot, Once On This Island, and Mamma Mia
Teen Intensive Camp We will also repeat our very popular Teen Intensive Camp session. It is an all-day camp offering deeper concentration on scene work and musical production numbers. Students are required to audition and should prepare a musical number and monologue from a play or musical. Returning campers should prepare new audition material. Please call 952-934-1525 by May 6 to book your child's audition appointment.
Special All-Day Session Returning in 2012, is the popular "Build-A-Musical" camp session for kids between the ages of 8 and 16. This session is a unique and more deeply involved camp session for kids who really love theatre. During this camp, participants write and perform their own musical. This year's theme will focus on Greek mythology in keeping with our Main Stage summer production Xanadu. No audition required.

General Information

Once your child is registered, an information letter will be sent to you within 7-10 business days from the date you register.
What to Wear: Tennis shoes or dance shoes are preferred. No clogs, flip flops or sandals, please.  Shorts or slacks, no skirts or dresses.

What to Bring: A bottle of water, if desired.  A snack with beverage will be provided each day. Those attending an all-day session need to bring their own lunch.

- Youth aged 8 through 12 (must be age 8 by Sept. 1, 2012)
- Teens aged 13 through 18 (must be 13 by Sept. 1, 2012)
- MORNING sessions are held from 9am to noon
- AFTERNOON sessions are held from 1pm to 4pm
- Special All-Day Session is Mon-Fri from 9am to 4pm for ages 8-16
- Teen Intensive All-Day Session is Mon-Fri from 9am to 4pm for ages 13-18
- Registration fee for morning or afternoon session is $225
- Registration fee for Teen Intensive All-Day Session is $450 
- Registration fee for All-Day Special Session Camp is $450 
- Sorry, no extended care is offered

Policies

Exchange Policy: Camp dates may be exchanged at no charge prior to June 1 if space is available. As of June 1, exchanges may be made up to three weeks prior to your registered session for a $20 exchange fee. Exchanges cannot be made within three weeks of your child’s registered session.
